iPhone 14 Pro Screen Replacement Cost: Pricing Factors & Repair Options

Apple charges $329 in the United States to replace an iPhone 14 Pro screen out of warranty — or $29 if AppleCare+ is active. The phone launched in September 2022, so its one-year warranty expired for launch buyers in September 2023: today your route is AppleCare+ or that fee. FixUpPhone publishes no fixed price; its quote follows an assessment. This guide covers the prices, the five pricing factors, and the repair-or-replace maths.

ϟ Quick Expert Summary

Check your cover first — on a 2022 phone it decides everything. If AppleCare+ is active, a cracked screen is a $29 fee at Apple and nothing beats it. Without cover, the screen fee is $329 — about 33% of the $999 starting price — and an independent repair is quoted after assessment. Turn the phone over: if the back glass is broken too, Apple’s combined price is $599 against $828 bought separately — the back-glass fee here is unusually heavy. Back up first, tape over shattered glass, and if the screen is lifting or the phone runs hot, treat it as a battery problem and get in-person help.

✓ A Screen Repair Makes Sense When

  • AppleCare+ is active — the same repair is a $29 fee at Apple
  • The damage is the display only, and the phone otherwise works well
  • Touch, Face ID and cameras all still function behind the crack
  • The total stays well below the cost of a comparable replacement

× Think Twice Before Paying When

  • The screen and back are both broken — price the combined $599 tier first
  • The battery is also worn — a combined written quote may change the maths
  • The phone is hot, or the screen is lifting — that can be a swollen battery
  • You have not checked whether AppleCare+ is still active

Apple — iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max announcement

The OLED panel, touch layer and Ceramic Shield front are serviced as one assembly, and True Tone, ProMotion, Always-On and Face ID all depend on the replacement being fitted and configured correctly. This model introduced Always-On and Dynamic Island to the iPhone line.

② FixUpPhone Expert Analysis

Practical repair-cost analysis based on Apple’s published specifications, service fees and coverage terms, plus FixUpPhone’s published service information.

Factor one: your cover decides the price before anything else

The iPhone 14 Pro went on sale on September 16, 2022, so the one-year warranty expired for launch buyers in September 2023 — and it never covered accidental damage. Today the live question is AppleCare+: if a plan is active, screen damage is a $29 service fee at Apple, and no independent quote competes with that. Check your status in Settings before comparing anything else. Without cover, Apple’s out-of-warranty screen fee is $329. No later revision of that figure was found, so re-check Apple’s estimator when you book, but expect the table below.

Factor two: screen only, or screen and back together?

Turn the phone over first: on this model the second face is expensive. Apple’s back-glass fee here is $499 — heavier than on the generations that followed. The reason is design: the removable-back redesign that reached the standard iPhone 14 in 2022 never reached this generation’s Pro models, so a broken back here is a much bigger job. If both faces are cracked, Apple prices the pair together: $599, versus $329 + $499 = $828 separately — a $229 saving. With AppleCare+, the combined fee is $58. Compare any independent quote against the same combined total, not the screen-only figure.

Factor three: the panel itself — what a genuine-grade screen protects

This display was the first iPhone screen with an Always-On mode and the first with Dynamic Island, and it runs ProMotion up to 120Hz. Those behaviours live in the panel and its configuration, not in the glass alone. A genuine panel, an original-equivalent panel and a cheaper aftermarket panel are priced differently: the grade affects brightness, colour, touch response and how reliably the adaptive refresh and Always-On behave. A cheap replacement that drops to a fixed refresh rate, loses Always-On or dims unevenly is a downgrade from the phone you bought. Be equally wary of “OLED upgrade” language: this phone already has an OLED display, so there is nothing to upgrade to — the honest question is whether the replacement matches the original panel’s specification. Some quotes are for glass-only work, which keeps the original panel and replaces just the broken glass layer; that is a different job from fitting a complete display assembly, and Apple services the display as one assembly. Ask which of the two you are being quoted for, and which grade will be fitted, in writing.

Factor four: touch, True Tone and the post-repair checks

Start by splitting the symptoms honestly, because they describe different jobs. Cracked glass with full touch, a clean image and no lines is glass damage over a working panel. Lines, flickering, dead patches or areas that no longer respond to touch mean the panel itself is damaged — a full display assembly, not glass-only work. Say which group yours falls into when you ask for a quote.

A screen swap is finished only when the whole display system checks out. True Tone should still adapt to ambient light, touch should register evenly across every corner and edge, brightness should be uniform, and Face ID — which works through the pill-shaped cutout — should unlock as before. Ask for those checks by name before you approve the job, and repeat them at collection: type across the keyboard, drag an icon around all four edges, toggle True Tone, unlock with Face ID, and open the front camera to confirm it previews cleanly. Whatever the symptom group, back up the phone before any repair begins.

Factor five: the frame decides whether it stays a screen repair

The enclosure on this model is stainless steel. It is hard and heavy, but a corner impact can still bend or dent it — and a display cannot seat or seal correctly against a bent frame. That is why Apple inspects the device before confirming its final fee: what looks like screen damage can be reclassified if the frame or internals are damaged, moving it into the $649 “other damage” tier rather than the $329 screen tier. Ask which category your phone has been placed in and why — the category, not the crack, sets the price.

Four years on: check the battery while you are at it

Four years of charge cycles sit behind a phone from September 2022, and a screen repair is the natural moment to check Settings → Battery → Battery Health. Apple’s battery fee for this model is $99 — or no charge with AppleCare+ when capacity is below 80%. If the battery is nearly worn out, get a combined written quote for screen and battery — a fairer comparison than the screen price alone, and one opening instead of two. Broken glass is a safety issue too: tape over a shattered screen before handling it. If the screen is lifting, the phone feels unusually hot, or you notice a chemical smell, the battery may be swollen — stop using it, do not press the screen down, and do not put it in the post.

Questions to ask before you approve

  • Which damage category is my phone in — screen, back glass, or other damage?
  • What type of display panel will be fitted, and is it written on the quote?
  • Will True Tone, ProMotion, Always-On and Face ID work normally after the repair?
  • Is the total final, including labour, seals, tax and diagnostics?
  • Is the back glass cracked too — and is the combined price better?
  • What warranty covers the part and labour?
  • Could AppleCare+ cover this more cheaply at the $29 fee?

③ Pros & Cons: Repairing vs Replacing

✓ Reasons to Repair the Screen

  • With AppleCare+, the repair is a $29 fee — nothing else comes close
  • At $329, Apple’s fee is about 33% of the phone’s original price
  • The chip, cameras and display features still hold up well in 2026
  • Your data, setup and accessories all carry on unchanged

× Reasons to Pause

  • Combined damage climbs fast: screen and back is $599 at Apple
  • A four-year-old phone may soon need a battery as well
  • Any opening of the phone breaks the factory seal, whoever does it
  • If the frame is bent, the job may move into the $649 tier

④ Repairability & Common Repair Needs

The display is a sealed assembly

The OLED panel, touch layer and Ceramic Shield front are serviced as a single unit. That is why a hairline crack and a fully shattered screen are the same listed repair at Apple — and why panel specification matters. After any opening, a fresh seal should be fitted, and the factory IP68 rating cannot honestly be re-certified.

The back glass is a different scale of job here

This generation’s Pro back panel was not designed to lift away separately as later phones’ do, which is why the fee stayed at $499. If only the back is cracked, do not accept a screen-repair price for it.

Document the repair

Ask for the finding and the work in writing: which category the damage was placed in, what panel was fitted, and what was tested. Keep it with the phone’s service history.

⑤ Should You Repair or Replace It?

Start with your cover, then the total. With AppleCare+, this decision is already made: $29 at Apple. Without cover, compare the full repair total — screen alone at $329, or $599 if the back is broken too — against the cost of a comparable replacement; at about 33% of the $999 launch price, a screen-only repair usually wins. Replacement only wins when several major faults stack up at once.

⑧ Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to replace an iPhone 14 Pro screen?

Apple’s US out-of-warranty fee is $329. With active AppleCare+, the service fee is $29. FixUpPhone publishes no fixed price; its quote follows an assessment.

Is a screen replacement cheaper with AppleCare+?

Yes — dramatically. Screen damage is a $29 service fee with an active plan, against $329 out of warranty. If the back glass is broken too, the combined fee is $58 instead of $599. Check your plan status first.

My phone is from 2022 — is it still under warranty?

For launch buyers, the one-year Apple warranty expired in September 2023, and it never covered accidental damage in any case. Cover today means an AppleCare+ plan or a later purchase date. A defect failure is a different conversation; cracks are accidental damage, priced through AppleCare+ or the out-of-warranty fee.

The back glass is cracked too. Is it cheaper to fix both together?

Yes. Apple’s combined screen-and-back price is $599, versus $828 if the two repairs are priced separately ($329 + $499) — a $229 saving. The back-glass fee is unusually high here for the design reason covered above. With AppleCare+, the combined fee is $58.

Will Face ID, True Tone, ProMotion and Always-On still work after a screen replacement?

They should, when the correct display is fitted and configured properly. Ask for confirmation that Face ID, True Tone, brightness, adaptive refresh, the Always-On mode and touch across the whole panel will be tested, and check them yourself at collection.

How long does a FixUpPhone screen repair take?

FixUpPhone’s general repair time is 1–7 days, depending on the work and parts availability. Mail-in repairs add shipping time. Your timescale is confirmed with your quote.

Will my phone still be water resistant after a screen replacement?

The IP68 rating is a factory laboratory rating on a new, sealed device. Any opening of the phone breaks that seal; a new seal is fitted during repair, but the original rating cannot honestly be re-certified. Treat a repaired phone as splash-vulnerable.

Can I mail my iPhone 14 Pro to FixUpPhone for a screen repair?

Yes — start a repair request and choose Mail-In Repair, and do not post the phone until the receiving store and instructions are confirmed. You pay inbound shipping and FixUpPhone pays the return. Never mail a phone that is hot or has a lifting screen.
